Viniyoga—Beginning to Moderate Intensity

with Debra Hale

Viniyoga is wellness-based and uses breath as a guide to find the right posture for the individual body. Each class will have an intention to prepare for a particular pose or to shift one’s energy. For example, practices might make you feel more energized, balance you emotionally, or help you feel relaxed and able to sleep. The classes include postures, breathwork and at times, meditation. Movements are generally slow (except for flow work) and the focus of breath changes from gentle to intense. To shift neuromuscular patterns, repetition and staying in postures is necessary, along with constant attention to breath. All levels of practitioners will benefit; however, it is a particularly effective class for beginners in yoga, or those looking for release from stress or adaptations of poses for their own individual needs.
