Yoga for Beginners

with Emily Joan Dowd

Sundays 10:00–11:30 a.m.

This 15-week series is designed to teach the beginning student of yoga the basic principles and asanas (poses) of yoga practice. We will gradually build strength and flexibility hand-in-hand with a steady expansion of our capacity and awareness of breath (pranayama). Each hour and a half class opens with a meditative breath centering, and closes with total relaxation (savasana). Students may begin following the class at any point within the cycle, or may drop-in to a class at any time, as each class is suitable for the beginning student. From any entry point, after 15 weeks, students will have experienced and learned the building blocks of yoga asana and pranayama practice, and should feel confident in attending any yoga class.
