Yoga for Beginners

Yoga for Beginners is an ideal class for the new or returning student, interested in the physical and mental practice of yoga. Learn to connect with your body’s potential and embrace its limitations, as you gradually build strength and flexibility hand-in-hand with a steady expansion and awareness of breath (pranayama). The class follows a 15-week cycle, and each class focuses on a different set of key poses (asanas), but students may begin the class at any point within the cycle, or drop-into a class at any time. From any entry point, after 15 weeks, students will have experienced and learned the fundamentals of yoga practice. They will also have learned to modify poses and use props such as blankets and bolsters as needed for their own bodies. Each class opens with a meditative breath centering, and closes with total relaxation (savasana).
